Student Affairs Event Promotion
Student Affairs Event Promotion
Student Designer for University of Missouri Student Affairs – January 2021 through December 2022
This was my first Graphic Design job in college and I learned so much during my two years on the Marketing and Communications team. Throughout my tenure, I worked primarily on event promotion for various student organizations and campus entities including MizzouRec, residential life, and the Campus Activities Programming Board. This position allowed me to expand my skillset as a designer as I worked prodominatnly within Adobe Illustrator. Below you will find three of the projects I am most proud of from.
Earth Month
This was one of the first opportunities that I had to serve as an art director in a professional setting and I learned a lot from the experience. There was a series of 6 student events in April of 2022 that needed promotion which all needed a cohesive look and feel. However, due to the limited hours that we were able to work each week as student designers, it was not possible for just one designer to create graphics for all 6 events. Therefore, I was tasked with establishing a brand identity for the series of events by creating a logo, choosing fonts and colors, developing an illustration style, and then sharing it with the other student designers so we could collaborate on the designs while ensuring cohesion throughout.
Light the Dome
During my time working for Student Affairs at Mizzou, I had the opportunity to create promotional graphics for many student events. This is one of my favorites that I designed. I did all the illustrations using Adobe Illustrator and the illustration of Jesse Hall took a painstaking 10 hours to create, but it turned out so well that I used it for several of my projects. Homecoming is such a special tradition at Mizzou and I am honored to have had the privilege of helping to promote one of its events.
Winter Blues Bingo
This is another one of my favorite graphics that I created while working for student affairs. It allowed me to practice my illustration skills and gain confidence in Adobe Illustrator. I learned a lot of new skills within Illustrator with this project and still use some of those skills to this day.
